A new era has started in Baton Rouge, as Lane Kiffin gets ready to revamp the roster after a disappointing 2025 season.
Kiffin has a reputation for bringing in stellar talent from the portal, with a top five transfer class every year since 2022 while he was the Head Coach at Ole Miss.
Kiffin explains in his introductory press conference, that he has no worries garnering interest from these highly sought-after recruits, and putting them in an LSU jersey.
“We’re going to sign the best players that we can on Wednesday, and we’re gonna go to the portal, which I have zero concern about the interest of players with that.” Kiffin said. “I know the interest of players nationally to come play for us where we were just at, and now when you put that with this stadium and that logo.”
LSU currently has the No. 1 transfer class in the country with 26 commits going into the 2026 season.
The class includes some big time talent like Jordan Ross, a former five star edge rusher from the University of Tennessee, and Jayce Brown, a four star wide receiver from Kansas State.
With these two leading the charge, the Tigers hope that this transfer class can make an immediate impact next season.
“This place is built for championships with championship expectations. We understand that, but as an elite competitor, that’s exactly what you want and that’s why we’re here.” Kiffin stated.
While the transfer portal gives, It also takes away.
32 players from last season entered the portal. Notable names include interior lineman Paul Mubenga and DJ Chester, tackle Tyree Adams, and former starting quarterback Michael Van Buren.
Van Buren threw for 1010 yards and eight touchdowns in five starts for LSU last season. He has since committed to the University of South Florida, and has left a massive hole in the Tigers
On Jan. 12, five star and No. 1 overall transfer Sam Leavitt committed to LSU. With this recent acquisition, Kiffin hopes that has found his conductor to keep the Lane Train rolling smoothly.
