Louisiana State University’s Recreational Center has introduced the new Pilates reformer machine. The machine has been in popular demand for a long time due to its immense popularity on social media apps.
The reformer class is being added in addition to the popular mat Pilates class.
The traditional mat Pilates class accommodates more than 50 participants while the reformer class will be smaller and more intimate, only holding eight students.
Reformer instructor Grace Posey said she hopes students, men or women , come out simply to try something new and find a sense of community.
“I would definitely say it’s more intense so you will probably feel a harder workout because you’re getting the weighted element so it will definitely be a little bit harder and a little more intense,” Posey said.
The class sessions started Jan.19 and have drop in class options as well as scheduled courses.
Due to high demand these classes come with a cost. For students the progressive classes are $120 and drop-in classes are $15.
Students say they are excited and have been looking forward to the reformer machines for a while.
LSU student Madison Ribison said “I definitely want to try it. I actually almost ordered one when I came back for the semester but I was like let me wait because they might actually bring them here so I’m actually excited they brought them here. I can’t wait to try it.”
