Republican State Representative Dixon McMakin announced that he is running for the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday.
State Rep. McMakin currently serves Louisiana State House district 68 in East Baton Rouge Parish. The district includes LSU’s campus and the surrounding area. Rep.McMakin also serves as the announcer for Tiger Stadium as well as several events in the PMAC.
McMakin joins a crowded field to fill the congressional seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow, who is running against Sen. Bill Cassidy for Senate. The race includes Democrats Jessee Fleenor and Larry Foy and Republicans Ray Smith, Sen. Rick Edmonds, Larry Davis, Misti Cordell and Samy Wyatt.
