LSU Softball took on NC State in game seven of the Tiger Classic with the Tigers making an improbable comeback in the seventh inning, winning the game 7-5 thanks to Jalia Lassiter’s walk off two-run home run.
The game did not start out the way LSU hoped it would’ve as the Wolfpack put up two runs in the first and added three more in the third to make it 5-0 quickly. NC State starting pitcher Wynne Gore was cruising through three innings, only allowing one run to this point.
It was then when the Tigers locked in, with Kylee Edwards driving LSUs first run in with an RBI single in the bottom of the third. Gore managed to get out of a couple jams before Ally Hutchins continued her hot start to the year with an absolute bomb to the berm in left field.
Tiger reliever Tatum Clopton came in for the starter Cece Cellura and was dominant when LSU needed her most. This allowed for what many deemed to be impossible to happen in the seventh.
LSU was down by three runs but cut it to two when Tori Edwards scored on a wild pitch. Then, with a runner on first, Alix Franklin doubled to left bringing home another run.
It was now just a one run game with both the game tying and winning runs for the Tigers in scoring position. Another wild pitch brought the game tying run in before Jalia Lassiter came up in a spot that many wish to be in.
She delivered, smoking the game-winning home run into left field, sending everyone in purple and gold home happy. This win brings the Tigers to 3-0 on the early season with three more games to play in the Tiger Classic
