LSU Gymnastics Head Coach, Jay Clark spoke with the media following a victory over No. 14 Penn St.
Heading into this meet against the Nittany Lions, Coach Clark was expecting his team to be very sharp because the squad had a great week of practice. This success in practice was enough to get the victory, but not enough for the approval of Coach Clark.
“We were not great by any stretch of the imagination. We trained great all week long; we looked fantastic. But we were not what I expected us to be coming in here tonight. We were good in spots and had a lot of positive take-aways. You get a win, but it doesn’t feel great.
As a result of Coach Clark not being fully satisfied, the team’s rotations are far from being set in stone as he stated he feels his team “missed an opportunity.”
With this mindset from the head coach, execution will be a point of emphasis in practice this week as he and his team look to seize the next chance they get to perform.
This next opportunity will be again in the PMAC Friday night against the No. 12 ranked Auburn Tigers.
