The No.12 LSU Tigers returned to the sand on Friday evening to host the Grand Canyon University Antelope. Competing with confidence on the first serve, LSU delivered strong performances on each court.
Starting on court one, redshirt freshman, Bella Lagemann and redshirt Junior, Emily Hellmuth, started off strong with great offensive work and were able to build momentum within their first set. Defeating GCU (21-15) and were able to continue with confidence going into their next set.
Moving to court three, LSU freshman Ryan Lambert and graduate student Zayna Meyer used their strength of blocking to defeat GCU (21-17) redshirt senior Jessica Drake and freshman Jordyn Decker, in the Sandy Tigs first set.
Despite efforts made by the Antelope, the Sandy Tigs kept up a strong offensive power on all three courts, ending each set with strong offensive plays.
The No.12 Sandy Tigs showed LSU fans the high energy and top performance they can bring to the table no matter the competition.
As LSU moves forward this weekend they will look to carry this energy into upcoming matchups. LSU appears to be well positioned to continue making impacts on the sand this season.
The Sandy Tigs will face Boise State at 11:45 a.m. and conclude the tournament that evening against No. 10 Arizona State at 4:45 p.m. at LSU’s Beach Volleyball Stadium.
