While spring is rolling around, you might want fall to come sooner, as there have been recent updates on when construction at University Lake will come to a close.
Construction has been in session since the summer of 2023. During the process, May Street was being upgraded with a new bridge since the summer of 2025.
May Street was closed due to an issue with sediment used as the foundation for the structure.
After they finish construction, they will move equipment from University Lake to Campus Lake, behind Herget and Miller Hall.
Project Manager Mark Goodson said that they are looking to reopen May Street, hopefully by the end of the year, and University Lake by the upcoming fall semester.
“I think it’s awesome, I think it’s going to be way more sound,” said Israel Warr, an Alumnus from the E.J. Ourso College of Business. “It looks like people are going to be happy and prettier with the foliation.”
As construction continues, people can look forward to once again enjoying walks and runs around the lake when it’s clear and open.
