Players with the Baton Rouge Zydeco stepped off the ice this weekend, hosting a meet and greet event at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The event gave fans the opportunity to meet players and learn more about hockey in Louisiana. Young fans and families filled the store, showing that there is a growing interest in the sport across the region.

But the Goalie for the Zydeco said events like this are about more than just hockey.

“We like to go to the elementary schools and get the kids and show us that hockey is here, and hopefully here to stay in Louisiana. And just show kids that there’s more other than football and baseball and all that,” said Bailey Stevens

The team continues to build its presence both on and off the ice as it connects with fans throughout the season. The Zydeco return home April 9 at the Raising Cane’s River Center.
