The LSU Softball Team (No. 21) holds an impressive record of 26-13 at about the halfway point of conference play.
The Lady Tigers got off to a 6-0 start and have performed very well in their non-conference games despite the team having serious offensive struggles.
Unfortunately for the Lady Tiger’s, these lapses caught up to them as so far in SEC play their record is 6-9.
They hold the worst team batting average in the SEC at .264 and have not been able to keep up with the top teams as they have dropped series to No. 1 Tennessee, No. 5 Oklahoma and No. 16 Texas A&M.
A big reason for this is because team leaders such as Tori Edwards and Maci Begeron have not been able to put it together. Both players are only a season removed from having elite seasons as Edwards was a first team All-American and Bergeron was a third team All-American.
Although this seems bleak, there are still reasons for Tiger fans to have hope as the team’s conference schedule lightens up significantly to conclude the season.
The team currently sits at eleventh in the SEC and will take on Ole Miss in their next conference series as they continue their steep climb to the top of the conference.
