Many students on campus may not realize there is a job dedicated to keeping student-athletes on track academically and they are called the student-athlete class checkers.

Student-athlete class checkers are responsible for ensuring athletes arrive to class on time and attend their scheduled courses.

With the demands of practices, games, and travel, balancing athletics and academics can be a challenge.

“Student athlete not athlete student, I believe that classes ,homework, and exams is very important and the first step to that is going to class.” said class checker Gabrielle Davis.

To help address this, LSU uses a system known as class checking. The system relies on student workers who verify whether student-athletes are present in their classes. The goal is to promote accountability and encourage consistent engagement in the classroom.

As the semester begins to wind down, maintaining academic focus becomes even more critical. Through class checking, LSU aims to support student-athletes in achieving academic success while they complete their competitive seasons.
