Arizona avoided the sweep with a three-run sixth inning, as LSU fell in the series finale, 4-2, on Sunday at Tiger Park.
Paytn Monticelli started in the circle for the Tigers and, though she was charged with the loss, was the best pitcher on the day for the Purple and Gold. Monticelli finished with four strikeouts and allowed just three runs, two hitd and three walks in 5.1 innings.
Pitchers Jayden Heavener and Cece Cellura also saw some time on the mound, with Heavener being pulled after surrendering the two runs that gave the Wildcats the leg up and Cellura finishing the game.
Despite the loss, the Lady Tigers are continuing to come around on offense, picking up from early season struggles.
Jalia Lassiter lit up the stat sheet going 3-for-4 at the plate, collecting her 10th multi-hit game of the season also scoring one run.
Kylee Edwards also logged her 10th multi-hit game of the season with a 2-for-4 outing and one RBI.
Maci Bergeron, Ally Hutchins, and Char Lorenz each had a hit, with Hutchins scoring a run.
LSU out-hit Arizona 8-4, making this the Tigers’ first loss of the season when outhitting their opponent.
The Lady Tigers will play in-state foe UL-Lafayette in their midweek game before welcoming the Rebels in from Oxford to Tiger Park in the upcoming weekend.
