LSU Track and Field hosted the LSU Alumni Gold Meet at Bernie Moore Track Stadium on Saturday April 25th.
Teams that competed in the meet were, LSU, North Carolina A&T, Dillard University, University Louisiana, Lafayette, McNeese St. , Western Kentucky, Alcorn State, Southern University, Southeastern Louisiana, Louisiana tech, ULM, University Alabama, Memphis, Nicholls St., Hinds Community College, Community Christian College, and athletes who represented their brands.
The meet was filled with PR’s, record breakers and not to mention the 50-yard dash, hosted by Coach Kim Mulkey for the fastest non-student-athletes on LSU campus.
The day started with the field events where Chad Hendricks set a new score of 60.30m in discus throw. Hendricks is now the No.5 discus thrower in LSU history. Last year, Hendricks was ranked No.7 and threw 53.47m at the LSU Alumni Gold meet. However, this year he stepped it up, setting a new LSU record with 60.30m.
There was success for the Tigers in the women’s Discus event as all three athletes finished in the top five. Princess Hyman won the event with a score of 59.38m, followed by teammate Leah Acosta, who scored 58.81m and is now ranked No.8 in the 2026 D1 College Outdoor Rankings and No.3 in LSU History. Ambria Langley scored 54.27m.
Moving onto the women’s 4x100m relay, LSU women’s outdoor 4x100m team won the race with a time of 42.97 seconds. The squad is ranked No.6 for the College Outdoor Rankings. Athaleyha Hinckson was on the first leg, giving the Tigers a strong start, followed by Nasya Williams and Aniyah Bigam, ending with Tima Godbless as the anchor to secure the win.
Matthew Sophia secured a win in the men’s 110m Hurdle race with a time of 13.42 seconds. It was a tight race as Jason Holmes from North Carolina A&T came close with a time of 13.43 seconds, yet Sophia was able to push extra hard to cross the finish line first.
In the women’s 100m race, Aniyah Bigam set a new PR with a time of 11.18m. In 2025, Bigam earned Second Team ALL-SEC with a time of 11.35 seconds. This year, she was able to improve her time, now ranking No.20 for the 2026 D1 College Outdoor Rankings.
Another PR time was set for Ella Onojuvwevwo, who finished second with a time of 22.56 seconds in the women’s 200m race. Following was the men’s 200m race, which was a success for the Tigers with three LSU athletes finishing in the top 10.
Jaiden Reid set a new PR for himself, finishing first with a time of 20.31 seconds, followed by Jeremiah Walker in second with a new PR of 20.40 seconds and Shakeem McKay in ninth place with a new PR time of 20.74 seconds.
Saturday was a fun and successful day for the LSU Track and Field team at Bernie Moore Stadium. The team will compete May 2 at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium for the LSU Invitational track meet.
