As F. King Alexander reined in his one-year anniversary as LSU President, the Board of Supervisors decided it was time to create a presidential evaluation protocol at its meeting Friday.
“The Board doesn’t have one yet,” said Chairwoman-elect Ann Duplessis. “We need to facilitate this.”
Duplessis said creating an evaluation protocol will help establish and organize University priorities.
“At the next meeting, we will help to create a documented process by which the president will set out his vision for LSU in the next five years,” Duplessis said.
Student Government President-elect Clay Tufts said he thinks this will help establish a better relationship between students and the Board.
Tufts said King is student-oriented and plans to increase visibility on campus.
Using organizations like SG in addition to online surveys and other tools will allow the Board to understand and act on student interests, Duplessis said.
Duplessis said she estimates Alexander’s plan will be ready around October. From there, according to Duplessis, the Board will conduct annual reviews based on Alexander’s plan. Every five years, the Board will conduct a larger, formal evaluation.
“Board decisions impact students directly and indirectly, whether or not they realize it,” Tufts said.
