The University’s Human Resource Management department announced via email that it will update its LSU First Health Plan to accommodate employees and their spouses per the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriages.
Partners and dependents of University employees in same-sex marriages or partnerships were previously not eligible for benefits under the plan.
“The insured’s effective date of coverage will depend on the date they enroll and when their qualifying event took place,” the email went on to say.
