Students who bought football tickets now have to remember to print them instead of picking them up from the ticket office. Students received an e-mail containing a PDF document of their tickets for each game and instructions to print them out, replacing the old system of in-person pickups. Director of Athletics Molly Hall said the tickets can be printed out numerous times, but they each have a barcode to ensure the student who paid for them can get into the game. “They get eight e-mails, and if they delete them, they can always access it on their LSU sports account,” said Hall. Hall also said the student ticket priority point system for away games changed. Under the priority points system, students gained an increased likelihood of receiving away game tickets if they attend home games and earn points. Students receive 20 points for home games and five points for each away game, with select volleyball and basketball games worth two points. “Last year you got two points per away game, and this year it’s five,” Hall said. Hall said students who have no priority points will not be eligible for away games, including freshmen. But she said students who do not qualify have other ways to get away game student tickets. “The opportunity is there,” Hall said. “If they have a friend who’s an upperclassman, they can order two.”Student Government members have worked with the LSU Athletic Department since May to ensure students understand the new process. But some students are worried the new paper tickets will not be reliable. “My only concern is what are we going to do when it’s pouring down rain in Tiger Stadium and the tickets are wet,” said Laura Rachal, biological sciences sophomore. Rachal said she was also surprised to discover the ticket prices went up from $7 to $12 per game. “Upping the price of the tickets just to give us cheap paper ones is just bad business practice,” she said. Hall said students who want a more decorative ticket have the option of buying commemorative tickets. “Because we’re doing e-mail tickets, we’re also selling commemorative tickets,” Hall said. To purchase the commemorative tickets, students can log-on to their LSU sports account and purchase them for $2. Some students are looking forward to accessing their tickets from their personal computer instead of picking them up at the ticket office. “It’s convenient, but you have to print them out, which kind of sucks,” said Chris Maggio, agriculture business junior. “I can always go print them out, at least you don’t have to go early and pick them up.”
