Rivals.com released its final Rivals100 for the Class of 2009 on Tuesday, changing the rankings of the LSU football team’s commitments and potential recruits.
LSU still has the No. 1 Rivals recruiting class with six Rivals100 commits, but quarterback Russell Shepard (6-foot-1-inches, 179 pounds) dropped from No. 5 to No. 7.
Running back Bryce Brown claimed the No. 1 spot, leaping Bastrop High School wide receiver Rueben Randle. Randle (6-foot-3-inches, 195 pounds) drops one place to No. 2.
Randle has yet to make his college decision. LSU, Alabama, Auburn and Oklahoma are his top choices.
Brown, a Miami commit, is the first running back to be ranked No. 1 since Adrian Peterson in 2004.
A couple of recruits made major moves. Offensive lineman D.J. Fluker, an Alabama commit, jumped 19 spots from No. 22 to No.3.
Miami commit athlete Ray Ray Armstrong was ranked No. 102 but climbed to No. 13.
Two LSU commits, running back Michael Ford and offensive lineman Chris Faulk, changed rankings. Ford moved to No. 59 and Faulk shifted to No. 47.
The Tigers’ other Rivals100 recruits defensive back Janzen Jackson (No. 17), safety Craig Loston (No. 20) and defensive lineman Chris Davenport (No. 25).
