LSUPD identified a person of interest Friday in relation to an alleged abduction reported earlier this week, according to a statement from LSU Media Relations Director Ernie Ballard.
LSUPD has not yet released the identity of the individual, but more information will be forthcoming, Ballard said in the statement. The investigation is still ongoing.
One person was reportedly abducted Wednesday night at the ‘sorority area’ on the University’s campus. The person is now safe.
The LSU crime log lists the location of the reported kidnapping at the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house.
The University issued a an emergency text message around 11:48 p.m. that stated LSUPD was investigating the reported abduction.
The message reads: “LSUPD invest. reported abduction by armed black male with dreadlocks/black shirt/pants in stolen gray 4dr Hyundai Elantra at sorority area. Victim now safe.”
“The safety of the LSU community is of the utmost importance to us. This incident is currently under investigation, and we can assure everyone that a thorough investigation is being conducted utilizing every resource available. These types of incidents are uncommon at LSU, and we do not tolerate these things occurring on our campus and to members of the LSU family,” said LSU Media Relations Director Ernie Ballard in an emailed statement.
