LSU junior linebacker Devin White was ejected for targeting late in the fourth quarter against Mississippi State.
By rule, White will be forced to sit out the first half of the Alabama game on Nov. 3. The Southeastern Conference says there is not an appeal for the suspension, so the ruling is final.
White is the Tigers’ leading tackler with 76. The first-team SEC and All-American linebacker also has seven tackles for a loss and a sack to his credit.
LSU coach Ed Orgeron said after the game he didn’t see anything that would suggest a call either way.
“The call was the call,” Orgeron said. “It is what it is.”
Either freshman Micah Baskerville or sophomore Patrick Queen will take White’s place for the start of the game against No. 1 Alabama in Tiger Stadium.
