Sophomore Adrienne Richardson scored her first two goals as a Tiger and secured a 2-0 victory over the Texas State Bobcats.
Richardson scored in the 21st minute and 71st minute, contributing two of the 14 shots on goal for the Tigers, while the Bobcats only managed three total.
The Tigers got off to a hot start in the first half, with eight shots on goal and five corners.
“We’d like to clean up our finishing a little bit, but it’s still early in the season, and we’re really making good progress every game,” LSU coach Brian Lee said.
Tiger midfielders Marlena Cutura and Christyna Pitre also put in great performances, controlling the midfield, and playing threatening balls in to Richardson and sophomore Tinaya Alexander, who assisted both
“We think we have a pretty diverse front line and she (Richardson) and Tinaya make a nice pair, so we think she (Richardson) is going to consistently play a part with goals and assists game to game,” Lee said.
The Tigers defense did not have much work throughout the game, as senior goalkeeper Caroline Brockmeier was only forced to make three saves.
LSU improves their record to 2-1-0 on the year, and will travel to Mobile, Alabama on Aug. 30 to play South Alabama at 7 p.m.
