Throughout the success of LSU soccer, one freshman has turned many heads in Sariyah Bailey, the true freshman from Edmonton, Canada who has more than broke out onto the scene.
In 17 appearances, Bailey has been one of the most notable contributors for the Tigers with 9 goals, and 7 assists helping LSU not only to a SEC Championship appearance, but also advancing to the second round of the NCAA Soccer Tournament.
Bailey’s performances this season hasn’t gone unnoticed as she was not only named as an all SEC Third Team Member, but a named as a SEC All Freshman. She was also named as a TDS Midseason Top 100 Freshman which surprised herself hearing about it.
“Honestly I don’t really have any words about that. That honor means a lot. Coming from Canada, that’s really big for me. I’m only going to go up from there.”
Head coach Sian Hudson is also singing the praises of Bailey’s performances this season.
“Sariyah’s been fantastic for us, you know. To come in as a freshman and have the impact she has been unbelievable. Whether it’s assists or goals, or just her general overall play and work ethic, she’s been a massive factor for the team this season. All credit to her to walk in the door at a power four conference and make a statement.
As LSU prepares for their second round matchup against Iowa on Friday night, the Tigers hope Bailey can be a driving force against the Hawkeyes.
