The LSU Board of Supervisors’ Athletics Committee deferred a $100,000 pay incentive increase for football coach Les Miles on Friday.
As of Friday, Miles would receive an $100,000 incentive if the Tigers reached the College Football Playoff.
The deferral comes on the heels of LSU’s 16-14 loss to then unranked Wisconsin at Lambeau Field Sept.3. The loss ended the Tigers’ 52-game regular non-conference win streak and was LSU’s first season-opening loss since 2002.
Athletics committee chairman Blake Chatelain quickly deferred the motion and committee member Scott Angelle motioned immediately after.
The Board of Supervisors’ next meeting is Oct. 21, and it is unclear if the incentive increase will be revisited at that time.
