The first two days of the new year could not have gone any better for the LSU football program. On Friday night, the Tigers found their new defensive coordinator. On Saturday afternoon, LSU reclaimed the top spot in the 247Sports recruiting rankings with a pair of high-profile commitments.
Four-star IMG Academy wide receiver Drake Davis will return home to Baton Rouge to wear purple and gold, he announced in the second quarter of the Under Armour All-American game. The verbal pledge from Davis vaulted LSU back to No. 1 in the 247Sports rankings, which puts it in front of Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama and Ole Miss.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound wideout played his sophomore season at the Dunham School prior to moving to a military academy in Virginia for his junior season and then to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for his senior year.
Davis, who chose the Tigers over the Rebels, is the No. 13 overall wide receiver in the 247Sports composite position rankings. He is the 18th commitment to LSU in the 2016 class and the second Tiger commit from IMG Academy, joining five-star defensive back Saivion Smith. Davis is also the fourth LSU receiver commitment.

Following the Under Armour All-American game, LSU received a recommitment from a player in a position of need.
Four-star John Ehret linebacker Michael Divinity has reaffirmed his choice to play for LSU coach Les Miles, choosing the Tigers over Texas A&M. The 6-foot-2, 218-pound Divinity originally committed to LSU on Oct. 11, but reopened his recruitment on Dec. 11.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 4 overall outside linebacker in the country and the No. 5 player from Louisiana.
LSU running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson celebrated the commitments on Twitter.
