In the first half of LSU men’s basketball’s 80-73 loss to No. 4 Alabama, freshman forward Trey’Dez Green checked into the game for the first time in his collegiate career.
Green quickly generated a crazy highlight, coming up with a block out on the perimeter and going coast-to-coast with a dunk. He finished the game with three rebounds in nine minutes.
Green also plays football at LSU, making him an unprecedented dual-sport athlete for the Tigers.
Green’s situated to be LSU’s starting tight end in 2025 and had an electric audition for that role in the Tigers’ bowl game against Baylor, where he had two touchdowns and 53 yards. In his freshman year overall, he had 101 yards and four touchdowns.
At the same time, it seems Green may be a contributor for LSU’s men’s basketball team. He started practicing with the team two weeks ago.
Since Green arrived at LSU, the 6-foot-7 playmaker has been adamant that he wants to do the seemingly impossible and be a star on both teams.
In high school, Green played both football and basketball at nearby Zachary High School. He was a five-star recruit as a tight end on the turf, and averaged 24 points per game on the hardwood as a junior.
He was barred from playing basketball his senior year due to an eligibility dispute with the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.
