LSU softball’s infielder Danieca Coffey was named SEC Player of the Week following an impressive weekend.
Coffey hit .700 in 10 at-bats during the LSU invitational this weekend, where she tallied seven runs, six walks, four RBI and her first home run of the year.
Coffey has a 24-game hitting streak, which dates back to last season. She ranks No. 3 in the SEC with a .579 batting average and a .685 on-base percentage. Coffey’s 22 hits rank eighth in the league this season.
The Tigers are hot heading into the fourth weekend of college softball with a 14-0 record and outscoring their opponents 115-20.
LSU travels to Fullerton, California, this weekend to compete in the Judi Garman Classic, where they will play six games in six days. The Tigers start play on Thursday and end on Wednesday and will face UCLA, Cal State Fullerton, Utah, Notre Dame, Weber State and ULM.
