LSU Men’s Basketball Head Coach Matt McMahon spoke to the media after the Tiger’s 66-52 loss to Texas A&M to end the regular season.
“Tough Senior Day for us,” McMahon said. “The game really shifted the start of the second half.
The Tigers led the Aggies 32-30 at the half. In the second half, the Tigers struggled to make lay-ups and failed to keep up with Texas A&M’s offense.
“A&M really overwhelmed us on the offensive glass during that stretch,” McMahon said. “The way we struggled to shoot in the second half made it incredibly difficult on us to get any closer”
Ahead of the SEC tournament, Matt McMahon said Forward Corey Chest and Freshman Guard Victorious Miller have not returned to practice.
“Corey missed quite a few games with the back injury… and now he’s got a foot injury,” McMahon said. “Victorious it’s the same ankle that cost him games earlier in SEC play.”
Miller and Corey will have an off day Sunday and the team will re-evaluate their injuries Monday. The Tigers finish the season with an overall record of 14-17 and 3-15 in conference play.
“I think there has to be a reset button there,” McMahon said. “Obviously disappointed with where we are at in the standings and where we finished in league play.”
The team will take on Mississippi State at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the SEC tournament.
“We have to try to figure out a way to be better in the glass and stay out of foul trouble with the limited bodies in the front court right now,” McMahon said.
Head Coach Matt McMahon and the team will head to Nashville, Tennessee Monday to prepare for the SEC tournament.
