Broadmoor Elementary School makes history as the first elementary school providing a broadcasting class to such young students
Ashley Jones, known as Ms. A. Jones to her students, said the concept of the class was presented to her by the assistant principal . Although Jones avoided teaching, she agreed to start up the station.
The program has since become a success and a home for young students.
“ I want to give them hope, I want them to know its more than just Broadmoor or I hate to say the streets, some of these kids go home they homeless. I want to give them hope when they get to school.” Jones said .
The students have lots to be involved in from directing, writing, production, and even a production class where they learn to stream.
“The future of journalism is safe when these students are in charge.” Jones said.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony for Broadmoor’s journalism program will be Sept. 30th at Broadmoor Elementary.
