After a grueling 90 minutes from both sides, the LSU Tigers were able to seal another victory against Missouri.
Coming off an SEC win against Auburn last week, the LSU Tigers brought the energy to face Mizzou in a head-to-head matchup.
By halftime, the score was 0-0.
“It was just a hard-fought game. I think everyone on the field… played really hard,” forward Morgan Witz said. “I think we deserved a few more goals, but you know… we can take what we can get and move on to the next game.”
Both teams remained scoreless until 16 minutes left in the second half. With three shots on goal and eight corner kicks, they succeeded at one goal scored by Witz, assisted by midfielder Daniela Hellín and defender Natalie Dvorakova.
Keeper Sophine Kevorkian performed well in the goal, saving six shots by Mizzou, holding them to no luck in the net.
“I thought we dominated from start to finish, honestly, and had a lot of… a lot of the ball,” Head Coach Sian Hudson said. “Maybe we didn’t create as many clear-cut opportunities as we’d like, but you know we put a lot of balls in the box, asked a lot of questions of (Missouri).”
Thursday’s win not only extends their record to 7-5-1 but also proves their composure and resilience take them far in such a difficult pool of competitors.
The team is looking for its third consecutive SEC win against the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday, October 5th.
