After tying in Athens against the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday, the LSU soccer team was inside the LSU Soccer stadium going head-to-head against the Texas A&M Aggies on Friday night. In front of the fifth-largest home crowd in program history, the Tigers took down the Aggies 4-1. This marked the first time in program history that the Tigers have beaten the Aggies.
After almost a 24-minute start with no scoring, senior Defender Jazmin Ferguson shot the ball in the back of the net for the first goal of the night, being assisted by senior Forward Ida Hermannsdottir and senior Defender Sydney Cheesman, but that was the only goal scored for the rest of the first half by both teams.
After the break, standout freshman Forward Sariyah Bailey scored two goals in the second half, extending the lead to 3-0.
The Aggies answered back after Bailey scored her second goal of the night. Despite it, LSU remained completely in control of the match, playing man-to-man and sticking to what they know.
With freshman Midfielder Daniela Hellin scoring the final goal, the Tigers closed out the Aggies 4-1.
The Tigers will be headed to Oxford to take on Ole Miss in another SEC matchup. The Tigers and the Rebels will kick off on Thursday, October 16, at 6 p.m. on the SEC Network.
