A new social media game has Louisiana residents glued to their phones, racing to random locations around town.
Dylan Garcia, an LSU senior behind the viral Cash Stash BR page, is hiding cash across Baton Rouge. The concept is simple: Garcia hides the money, posts a clue on his Instagram story, and lets one lucky follower race to find it.
But the impact goes beyond the game. What began as a fun challenge is evolving into community service.
In just two months, Garcia has gained more than 27,000 followers on Instagram and over 5,000 on TikTok. People aren’t just chasing clues — they’re asking how to get involved. Service to the community has become Garcia’s main goal.
With the hunt gaining traction, followers often find the prize within minutes of it being posted. Garcia told reporter Mila Fair that the idea was inspired by YouTube sensation MrBeast.
As a marketing major at LSU, Garcia says he’s applying lessons from the classroom to his day-to-day efforts.
The impact has been tangible. Winners like Ty Nicole have used the money for meaningful purposes. “This money will help with my son and dad,” Nicole said.
Thanks to sponsors such as The Rev and Captain Hook, as well as online donations, the project has grown beyond cash hunts. Garcia has donated money directly to followers and handed out free meals to people in need.
What started as a viral game has turned into a movement, showing how a little generosity can go a long way. Garcia’s goal is to continue expanding the initiative, one share at a time.
