Most students at Louisiana State University had a lot to say about the idea of a statue honoring conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
The proposal, which was brought up by Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry. He has faced backlash from students who say Kirk has no meaningful connection to LSU.
But a small number of students actually supported the idea of having the statue on campus.
“I actually agree. Honestly, I really liked him and I really hate how everything played out. Having a statue I feel would bring good and bad but I actually support it,” one supporter said.
“What did he do for LSU? What did he do for us? What did he do for anybody? That is pointless. If they put that I am transferring,” one non-supporter said.
Kirk was assassinated on Sept.10 at Utah Valley University.
University officials have not announced any plans for the statue but debate reflects large tensions at LSU.
