Former Louisiana State University football coach Brian Kelly is suing the university, saying the university has yet to terminate him properly.
The lawsuit claims that LSU told Kelly that the former Athletic Director Scott Woodward was not authorized to fire him.
Kelly’s lawsuit says he was told the firing came after LSU’s loss to Texas A&M, but LSU argued that it was for other reasons.
Kelly’s team says LSU is trying to formally wait to fire Kelly so they can fire him “with cause”.
If the judge sides with LSU, then the university will not have to pay the $54 million dollar buyout guaranteed by Kelly’s contract.
Brian Kelly spent four years coaching at LSU.
