Max Mackinnon spoke to the media after suffering yet another loss in SEC play, but this time, against Mississippi State.
Mackinnon ended the night with 15 points, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the dominating Bulldogs as they came in hot from beginning to end. Mackinnon spoke on what he saw from the game, but also how devastating it is when LSU loses at home.
“Obviously, it sucks,” Mackinnon said. “No. 23 came in and hit two three’s. Didn’t know much about him until he hit those two threes. They get off to a hot start, but as you said, we just can’t keep letting this happen, and we’re going to bounce back.”
Throughout the game, LSU was having some trouble shooting from the free-throw line, especially in the first half. They were 25% (2-8) from the free-throw line before the half. They picked it up a bit in the second, shooting 66.7% (10-15) from the free throw line, ending the night at 52.2% (12-23)
Although LSU wasn’t feeling confident, Max still trust his team to get everything down before traveling to Columbia.
“I trust everyone,” Mackinnon said. “Everyone works on them behind the scenes. I trust everyones work. Everyone’s going to have misses and makes. That’s just life. But I trust everyone.”
Inconsistency has been the main problem for LSU throughout SEC play. Recently, they kept a close game against the No. 15-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks, but that drive and efficiency slipped away as they faced the Bulldogs.
“Honestly, not too sure,” Mackinnon said. “It just didn’t work out today. Just watch the film, and we’re going to bounce back.”
LSU will travel to Columbia to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday at 5 p.m.
