LSU Softball defeated the Nevada Wolf Pack 8-0 on Saturday night, with the Tigers run-ruling Nevada in the sixth inning.
Heavener was on the mound for the Tigers, and she pitched all six innings. She had seven strikeouts, gave up seven hits and three walks with no earned runs.
Nevada’s Hailey McLean was pitching a good game, holding the Tigers hitless until the fifth inning, where things began to unravel for Nevada.
The Tigers had one on and two outs. Alix Franklin reached first on a single to right. Destiny Harris then came in to run for Franklin. Jalia Lassiter was hit by a pitch and reached base.
Sierra Daniel came up to bat and hit a single up the middle, scoring Harris. Lassiter moved to third, and Daniel advanced to second.
Next up, Maci Bergeron hit a double to right center, scoring both Lassiter and Daniel. These would be the Tigers’ only hits on the night.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Wolf Pack walked in three runs for the Tigers. The Tigers also scored two runs on a fielder’s choice.
Nevada had seven hits on the night but stranded 10 runners on base.
The Tigers will be back in action Sunday at 12:30 p.m. CT in Tiger Park taking on Illinois.
Later in the day, the Tigers will face Lamar at 3 p.m. CT to close out the Tiger Classic.
