Fitzroy Anthony is joining The Show and will be an assistant coach for LSU Women’s Basketball.
Anthony is joining head coach Kim Mulkey’s staff after Gabe Lazo, former Tennessee assistant coach, accepted Mulkey’s position then decided to be the head coach of the University of Central Florida.
“Fitzroy will be a crucial addition to our staff as we continue to build high-level rosters, and his passion and energy for the game and this basketball program will be easy to embrace,” Mulkey said.
This is no surprise as Anthony is one of the “most well-thought of assistants in the women’s basketball game” per Mulkey. Fitzroy has been with the University of Miami for 10 seasons, serving as an associate head coach for the last four.
Anthony has been nationally recognized by The Athletic as the No. 2 assistant in the nation, selected to participate in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s 2024 Next Gen Institute, and went 3-0 as the interim head coach during his time as interim head coach during his 2022-23 season.
When it comes to players, Anthony is seasoned in development as he has worked with All-ACC performers like Beatrice Mompremier, Haley Cavinder, and Destiny Harden. He is also an elite recruiter that has signed notable players and increased Miami’s recruiting class. This is something LSU will need this year in working towards post players and guards that are in-game difference makers.
Although they had decent defense this past season, Anthony will be a huge contributor to making LSU not only a high octane offense, but a lock down defensive team. Anthony helped Miami in being known towards holding teams to points and low shooting percentages, while also setting in-game block records.
Anthony’s tenure in basketball holds weight through all his accomplishments as a coach, and will certainly be a difference maker in the 2026-27 women’s basketball season.
