The LSU women’s basketball program revealed its 2014-2015 schedule Friday, highlighted by 15 games in the Maravich Center.
Seven of the Lady Tigers’ eight Southeastern Conference home matchups will be televised. LSU’s games against Vanderbilt (Jan. 8), Ole Miss (Jan. 29), Missouri (Feb. 2) and Alabama (Feb. 8) will be on the new SEC Network.
Overall, 12 out of the Tigers’ 16-game SEC slate will be televised with five on both the ESPN family of networks and the SEC Network along with two on the Fox Sports Network.
The Lady Tigers host two exhibition games against Loyola New Orleans (Nov. 5) and Mississippi College (Nov. 9) to prepare for the start of the season.
LSU opens its season with five non-conference games in nine days, including matchups against Arkansas Little Rock (Nov. 14), Sam Houston State (Nov. 15), Jackson State (Nov. 17), Tulane (Nov. 19) and Rutgers (Nov. 22).
Then the Lady Tigers head down to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to compete in the Hardwood Tournament of Hope held on Nov. 25-27. During this three-day tournament, LSU will face Kansas State, Santa Clara, and the University of Texas at El Paso.
LSU returns to the Maravich Center to host Louisiana Tech (Dec. 3) and Southeastern Louisiana (Dec. 14) before taking a California road trip to face Long Beach State (Dec. 16) and University of California Santa Barbara (Dec. 19).
The Lady Tigers finish their nonconference schedule by competing in the Miami Holiday Tournament. In this tournament, LSU will face University of North Carolina Greensboro (Dec. 28) and either Miami or Florida A&M (Dec. 29).
The Tigers open conference play on the road against Florida (Jan. 2) before settling in to host the defending SEC champion South Carolina (Jan. 4).
LSU’s SEC schedule features home-and-away series with South Carolina (Jan. 4—Home; Feb. 12—Away), NCAA Elite 8 qualifier Texas A&M (March 1—Home; Jan. 11—Away) and Ole Miss (Jan. 29—Home; Feb. 26—Away).
The Lady Tigers will host SEC opponents Vanderbilt (Jan. 8), Kentucky (Jan.18), Missouri (Feb. 2), Alabama (Feb. 8) and Georgia (Feb. 19).
LSU’s remaining five conference matchups are on the road against Mississippi State (Jan. 15), Tennessee (Jan. 22), Auburn (Feb. 5) and Arkansas (Feb. 22).
Seven of the Tigers SEC opponents reached the NCAA tournament in 2014, including Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.
Under the direction of Coach Nikki Caldwell, the Lady Tigers have reached the NCAA Tournament for three straight years with three 20-plus win seasons.
