The open date may be boring for fans, but the players are using the “much-needed” week off to relax and add some new wrinkles to the offense to prepare for the biggest game of the season.
Matt Canada’s chameleon-like offense is doing a great job of keeping defenses off-balance, says senior lineman Will Clapp.
“I think Coach Canada does a great job of changing it up every week,” Clapp said. “We have been game planning teams to give us the advantage.”
To see evidence of the offensive changes, look no further than senior wideout DJ Chark’s statline.
Against Auburn, Senior WR DJ Chark had 5 catches for a career-high 150 yards. The next week in Oxford, however, not a single receiver logged a reception. Something, Chark says, doesn’t bother him as long as the team pulls through.
“If I am selfish on a game like Ole Miss,” Chark said. “then running backs can be selfish on games like Auburn. Whatever it takes to win the game, no one is going to be complaining about how we did it.”
LSU will travel to take on SEC rival Alabama on Saturday, Nov. 4.
