The NHL is doing things a little differently this year, instead of their annual All Star matchup, they are doing a Four Nations faceoff where they are bringing on the best players in the league to battle it out for a trophy.
The first match started February 12, where team Canada and team Sweden went against each other where Canada took the win in overtime. The rules for the Four Nations are a little different than traditional hockey though.
Teams will get three points if they win in regulation, two points if they win in overtime or shootout and one point if they lose in overtime. So, Canada started out the weekend with two points and Sweden one point.
USA went on to take on Finland on February 13, where team USA beat Finland in regulation. So, USA got three points from the game and Finland stayed at zero.
Going into February 15, USA battled Canada in an intense matchup where there were three fights in the first nine seconds. But, USA was not bothered by the noise and went on to beat Canada 3-1 earning USA another three points and clinched them a spot in the Title Four.
Finland went against Sweden and beat them in an overtime win which earned Finland two points.
Currently Sweden, Finland and Canada are all tied and Monday will be the determination of who will be going against USA for the chance to win the Four Nations trophy.
