LSU football is expected to hire Kyle Williams as its next defensive line coach, according to The Advocate.
Williams played at LSU from 2002 to 2005 and won a national championship with the Tigers in 2003. He played in 46 games for LSU, starting 33 of them at defensive tackle. Williams was a second-team All-American and All-SEC selection as a senior.
The NFL came calling, and Williams played all 13 seasons with the Buffalo Bills. He was a six-time Pro Bowler, recording 48.5 sacks and 103 tackles for loss in his NFL career.
Williams then spent the last five years as the defensive coordinator at Ruston High, his alma mater, before resigning in January. His defense held opponents to 15.2 points per game during their 2023 state championship season.
Williams has produced big recruits like Aidan Anding, a purple and gold signee; Zheric Hill, a three-star linebacker signed to Louisiana Tech; and current Tigers defensive lineman Ahmad Breaux, a three-star linebacker out of high school.
The hire comes at the right time, as LSU is set to start spring practices on Saturday. Williams will fill in the hole left by Bo Davis’ departure for the NFL.
