Baton Rouge, LA- The Color Me Fashion exhibit at LSU Costume and Textile Museum is a showcase that highlights over forty-five fashion looks, along with related accessories, spanning nearly a century of style from the 1890s to the 1990s.
Located on LSU’s campus next to the Dairy Store, this captivating display offers a visual journey through the evolution of fashion, illustrating the creative and cultural forces that shaped iconic looks over the past 100 years.
Assistant Curator and Graduate Assistant, Morgan R. Strzynski, shared insight into the exhibit’s unique sources of inspiration.
“We drew from a variety of cultural and artistic influences, one being the Hindu Holi Festival, which I thought was a really fun and unique approach to showing fashion,”Strzynski said. “There are several cultural elements represented in this exhibit, but it really speaks to how art, celebrations, and traditions can inspire research and creativity in fashion design.”
What sets Color Me Fashion exhibit apart from other exhibits at the museum is its focus on both the historical and the research-driven aspects of fashion.
While the LSU Costume and Textile Museum regularly features exhibits that explore the art and history of clothing, Color Me Fashion is one of the first to combine research with fashion history in such a deliberate and immersive way.
The exhibit runs for a limited time, so be sure to visit the LSU Costume and Textile Museum soon to experience this vibrant and thought-provoking exploration of fashion history.
