Freshman pitcher Casan Evans, first baseman Jared Jones and shortstop Steven Milam spoke to the media after a drug out, 9-5 win against UCLA.
Right after the rest of the game was postponed, Jay Johnson told Evans he would be staying on the mound. He threw five strikeouts, allowed two runs and had a 2.05 ERA on the day.
“The mindset stays the same no matter when I come in the game, if I start or if I close. I was just going out there and doing my best to help my team win,” Evans said.
Evans handled business on Tuesday, but it was Jared Jones’s home run that gave the Tigers the momentum they needed Monday night.
“That’s how the game works sometimes. And we just kind of stuck with it, got off to a good start, took quality at-bats all game long. And it led to a lot of success and a lot of runs on the board,” Jones said.
Up next, the Tigers will face the winner of Arkansas vs. UCLA. Either Opponent will have to beat LSU twice if they want to sneak their way into the College World Series Finals.
