LSU’s class of 2029 is the largest ever admitted, the university announced Thursday, breaking its freshman enrollment record for the eighth straight year.
The university enrolled 8,153 total first-time freshmen this fall, marking a 3.8% increase in students from the class of 2028.
The freshman class also broke demographic records, with the largest enrollment of Louisiana residents making up more than 61% of the class. It also had the highest number of nonresidents ever admitted.
Academically, the class of 2029 has a 0.5% higher overall average GPA than the class of 2028. It admitted 458 valedictorians, a 23.5% increase from last year. The class also has more students who were in the top 10% of their high school graduating class and has the highest enrollment in the Ogden Honors College.
