LSU has selected the top three candidates who will move forward in the application process to serve as the next university president.
The three finalists are Robert Robbins, Wade Rousse and James Dalton, who appeared in front of the Board of Supervisors at Wednesday’s interview.
Five candidates were considered at Wednesday’s meeting: current LSU Interim President Matt Lee, McNeese President Wade Rousse, former Arizona President Robert Robbins, Tulane Vice President of Research Giovanni Piedimonte and University of Alabama Provost James Dalton.
Dalton was announced as the fifth applicant on Wednesday morning.
There were originally six candidates that the committee formally voted to move forward in the first round of the application process. Two of them didn’t appear on the committee agenda. Those two were South Carolina Vice President of Research Julius Fridriksson and a candidate who chose to remain anonymous during the interest phase.
Those two chose not to apply, Board of Supervisors Chair Scott Ballard confirmed to the Reveille.
Each finalist will now have a full day set aside for them to hold public forums and meetings with stakeholder groups. Each finalist will be available to publicly speak with students, faculty and staff. Robbins was assigned Thursday, Dalton Friday and Rousse Monday, according to the Louisiana Illuminator.
