This year, the Baton Rouge Fire Department marks an extraordinary milestone: 45 consecutive years with an ISO Class 1 rating, placing it in the top one percent of fire departments nationwide.

The department says success is built on consistency, discipline, and daily dedication.

Baton Rouge fire department Public Information Officer Justin Hill says the recognition reflects more than just strong performance on paper.

The Class one rating translates into quicker response times, seamless teamwork, and even lower insurance rates for many Baton Rouge homeowners.

From early-morning drills to high-pressure emergencies, firefighters work tirelessly to maintain that level of excellence.

Their commitment stretches beyond the job — many spend 24-hour shifts inside the firehouse, ready to respond at a moment’s notice.

Hill describes the station as a second home and the crew as a second family, bonded by service and their shared love for the Baton Rouge community.

“We love what we do,” Hill says. “We’re public servants at heart, and we’re here around the clock for the people of Baton Rouge ”said Justin Hill.
