LSU Head Coach Matt McMahon spoke to the media following the 98-73 win against the Omaha Mavericks.
LSU’s defense held Omaha to shooting 26 for 66 from the field. They only scored 73 points, and they simply looked frustrated on the court.
“Defensively, I thought we forced tough shots. We were really concerned about Omaha’s three-point shooting coming in because they were making almost 10 (threes) a game at 39% shooting,” McMahon said, talking about his team’s defensive efforts.
LSU’s stellar performance from behind the arc was impressive in tonight’s game. They shot 45 percent from that area, and they made 15 three-pointers.
““I think the last three games we averaged somewhere around 103 points a game, but we only made five threes and were 25% (from three). I know we’re a much better shooting team than that,” said McMahon.
The Tigers were able to force 12 turnovers tonight. ““Well, in the first half we only forced three turnovers. In the second half, we forced nine and that got us out in transition,” said McMahon on how his team can get out in the open floor.
The Tigers will face the Drake Bulldogs in their next game.
