LSU Women’s Basketball defeated the Texas Tech Raiders 101-47 in the PMAC Sunday afternoon to advance to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers came out hot on offense, going on a 10-0 from tip-off. The duo of Mikaylah Williams and Flau’Jae Johnson showed up and showed out accounting for almost half of LSU’s 101 points with 24 and 24 respectively.
In Johnson’s last game in the PMAC, the Tigers showed the threat they pose for the rest of tournament on offense and defense.
Kate Koval and Amiya Joyner both showed up in big ways at the rim for the Tigers. Koval had possibly her best showing yet, putting up a 10-10 double double. Joyner played just 18 minutes, but performed none the less putting up an 11-11 double double.
Freshman Zakiyah Johnson shot off like a rocket taking advantage of the increased minutes she’s been seeing in the back half of the season. The SEC All-Freshman honoree only played 15 minutes, but she put up 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist in her command of the floor.
With their 16th 100 point win, the Tigers broke the record for most 100 point wins in a season in NCAA history.
The team will now dance their way to Sacramento, California where they will take on the Duke Blue Devils in a rematch, that they’ll hope will go their way this time around.
