With a career-high rushing output of 244 yards to match two touchdowns, LSU sophomore running back Leonard Fournette is the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the third consecutive week, the league office announced Monday.
Fournette buoyed a sluggish effort from the Tigers (3-0, 2-0 SEC) in a 34-24 win against Syracuse, setting the LSU record for most rushing yards in an away game. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound tailback leads the nation with 210.3 rushing yards per game over three contests.
Fournette, who has totaled 631 yards and eight touchdowns for the season, is the only player in Tiger history to rush for at least 200 yards in back-to-back weeks.
