Donald Trump made his third visit to Louisiana to thank supporters for voting for him and encourage people to vote for State Treasurer John Kennedy, in Saturday’s Senate run off.
The Get-Out-And-Vote Rally took place at the Baton Rouge airport hanger. Republicans from all over Louisiana came out to see the elect after his win in the 2016 presidential election.
“You can see the stock markets taking off. I believe its just the belief that America’s going to turn around, and we’re very excited” Republican and supporter Jay Pain said.
Trump thanked Louisiana for its support as he talked about when he first visited Louisiana. He called it a hanger but it was an arena at Baton Rouge River Center.
“I came down on Friday night to a massive [arena at Baton Rouge River Center]. The place was absolutely thousands and thousands of people. I think twenty-four, twenty-five thousand people, and I left and I said, ‘You know I think I’m going to win this state,’ and I won the state easily,” Trump said.
Trump talked about his plans as president. He touched on topics like taxes, veterans, immigration and his 100-day plan. Apart of his 100-day plan he says he will fix the corruption in Washington by “Draining the swamp.” “Ethics reform will be a crucial part of our 100- day plan as well, we are going to drain the swamp of corruption in Washington DC”, Trump said.
Throughout his speech he encouraged people to vote to secure a seat for Kennedy.
“I ran this race the same reason Donald Trump ran for office, to take our country back,” Kennedy said.
