LSU Men’s Tennis closed out South Alabama without losing a single match during their home opener in a 7-0 win.
LSU earned the first point by sweeping all three doubles matches. Erik Arutunian and Matias Ponce de Leon sparked the momentum with a 6-3 win. Sasa Markovic and Andrej Loncarevic won their sets, while Rudy Ceccon and Enzo Kohlmann de Freitas showed no mercy with a 6-2 win.
As the match transitioned into singles, the depth continued and was on full display.
Arutiunian kept his dominance with a near‑perfect 6-0, 6-3 victory. Markovic stayed in command from start to finish, taking his match 6-2, 6-4. Ponce de Leon added another point for the Tigers with a steady 6-3, 6-4 performance. Ceccon overpowered his opponent for a 6-4, 6-0 win.
Kohlmann de Freitas showed great composure when he overcame a tight second set to secure a 6-4, 7-5 win, sealing the match with an ace. The final point of the sweep was secured when Loncarevic won a 6-4, 6(7)-7, 10-8 third-set tiebreaker.
LSU is now 2-0 as they prepare for their game against Jackson State in this doubleheader.
