LSU’s 2011 recruiting class may take on a different look after the Army All-American Game on Saturday.
Four-star athlete Odell Beckham, Jr., will announce his commitment at the game, and most experts have been saying for months that the New Orleans native will choose the Tigers.
Beckham played both sides of the ball for Isidore Newman and has impressed as both a wide receiver and defensive back in practices leading up to the game. Beckham should start at receiver but may play in the secondary as well.
Four-star running back Kenny Hilliard represents the only player already committed to LSU. Hilliard broke the high school state career rushing record despite injuring his ankle early in the season and missing several games at running back.
Several other players showcased in the game also rank LSU among the finalists to land their commitment. Defensive linemen Jermauria Rasco, Ray Drew, Tim Jernigan and linebacker C.J. Johnson could be members of the 2011 class come National Signing Day on Feb. 2.
The last month had LSU fans panicking over where four-star running back Jeremy Hill would play his college football.
But Hill announced Friday that he would rejoin the Tigers’ 2011 recruiting class and helped put fans at ease.
Hill decommitted from LSU on Dec. 7 and reports stated that family issues had forced him to consider other schools. Alabama, Auburn and several Florida schools immediately showed interest in the Baton Rouge native, and rumors began swirling that Hill had silently committed to Auburn.
On Dec. 28 though, Hill said in an interview with 247sports.com that LSU still led other suitors for his services, but message boards still popped with skepticism that he would ultimately end up in purple and gold.
Instead, Hill proved his doubters wrong and will retake his place in “The Fam,” the nickname given to the close-knit group of members of LSU’s 2011 class. Hill and Redemptorist teammate La’el Collins were the first members of the class when they announced their commitments in June 2009.
