No. 2 LSU celebrated its final regular season victory while earning another perfect 10 performance in its 198.200-197.550 win over Auburn.
The biggest number on bars for the Tigers came from Haleigh Bryant in the anchor spot with a 9.975 score after being awarded a 10.00 from one of the judges.
This score followed all-around senior Aleah Finnegan’s 9.950, a season-high on this event for the Olympian.
As the meet moved onto the second rotation, LSU’s freshmen took the stage with Lexi Zeiss earning a season-high 9.900 on the vault.
Finnegan and Bryant both matched Zeiss’ vault score in the third and sixth spot.
Yet the highlight of the night was thanks to all-arounder Kailin Chio, who followed in the fifth spot with a perfect 10 for her yurchenko one-and-a-half.
The freshman has vaulted in every meet this season for LSU, racking up team-high scores. Her average of 9.920 and NQS of 9.945 placed her second in the nation on the event but will inevitably rise after her latest achievement.
Perfect scores have been hard to come by across the country, and Chio became the first freshman to put her name on that list.
On top of that, Chio’s score was the second in the nation on the event, following Selena Harris-Miranda for the Florida Gators back in February.
This was the second perfect score for LSU following Finnegan’s balance beam routine last week.
After the Bayou Bengals finished up on vault, they took over the floor with all-around sophomore Kylie Coen and graduate student Sierra Ballard starting them off with a pair of 9.875s.
All-around sophomore Drayton and Chio followed with a pair of 9.925s but Finnegan led LSU on the floor with a personal season-high.
She had one of her best floor performances of the season after executing her passes to almost perfection and receiving a 10.00 from one judge and a final score of 9.975.
Finally, it was time for the fourth rotation and LSU found its footing to be a little shaky on the balance beam as Ballard started off with a 9.825 and Coen followed with a 9.725, a season low for the sophomore.
After her first perfect 10 to finish the season, the eight-time SEC Freshman of the Week filled the third spot on beam with another 9.825.
The Tigers were yet to post anything greater than that score until all-around sophomore Konnor McClain mounted the beam with a 9.900.
Bryant followed as she matched her season high with a 9.950 and Finnegan filled the final spot with a 9.875.
The purple and gold Tigers completed their last regular meet with a season-high away score of 198.200, setting its overall regular season at 11-2 and adding a new perfect score to their resume before the start of the postseason.
No. 2 LSU is set to travel to Birmingham, Alabama, next weekend in pursuit of the SEC Championship.
